I know I’m late to comment but I’ve had 2 pairs of Old Navy leggings that I’ve washed on regular cold and put in the dryer pretty much every week for TEN years, and I’ve just started to notice some sagging during workouts. The cost per wear has to be negative at this point, as they were $19.99 apiece back then. I bought them when they had a long legging that went over your heel, and as someone who does barre/dances, I would LOVE if someone brought that extra length back!
Hi Nicole! Thank you so much for adding your review here. It's very much in line with most of the reviews I read. Especially from customers who bought from Old Navy a while ago. Sorry to hear that you're struggling to find barre/dance leggings! I feel like so many athletic brands are prioritising everyday clothes now (must make sense financially but sigh...) and 'niche' activities are the first one to see less selection in favour of every day style. Heck Lululemon's Tuesday restock for the past three Tuesdays has been puffer coats and skirts - I can't work out in that! haha
The only dance leggings I have come across are Alo's and, as per above, I wouldn't recommend them. I hope you find something good from smaller specialist brands, and I hope you keep getting lots of use out of those Old Navy leggings (we love a negative cpw). Xx
I am curious though.. how often do you actually need to wash your sports clothes? If I google it the answer is absolutely after every wear, but then again, will this damage the clothes faster? (And of course it makes sense to wash it after every wear if it’s a sweaty gym session 🤸♀️but what if it is something like yoga?) sorry for the weird question 🫣
Hi lovely Sofia! Not at all a weird question! That's a very good question in fact. Constant washing does lead to wear and tear faster and that's why I was drinking up these reviews that mentioned pieces that look as new after years of wear and wash. This is very much the case of my Lulus - I have had them for years and they look identical to the day I bought them (the leggings, not the bras - the bras definitely look like they have 'aged'). The only two times when I strip from head to toe straight into my laundry basket are - when I get off a flight and when I work out. I wash everything else (apart from underwear of course) veryyyyyy sparingly - probably too sparingly accordingly to some folk's standards haha. My workouts are sweaty so it's not an option for me to not wash. If I were to go a yoga or stretching session at home , that I wore underwear under my leggings, and that I had put them on when I was already showered - then I might not wash my leggings but that would be the only exception (any workout outside the house I feel like I'm always finding myself on the floor or on a mat everyone else uses at some point and so I feel like I have to wash). TDLR - pay particular attention to the reviews that say 'wear and wash well', 'durable for years' etc etc because, unfortunately, with activewear, frequent washes are unavoidable! Hope this helps! xxx
So grateful for this exhaustive search and insights. But also this is a treat: "For one hour each morning, I wear my slutty little tops, I look like boobs on legs, and I LOVE that for me." (I love reading that for meeeeee!)
You BETTTTTT. I hope the confidence and dontgiveafuckness bleed onto the rest of my day. I do look almost X-rated as Sarah perfectly puts it below haha but life's too bloody short.
So fantastic, Liza! I feel you on the sports bra search - the Sweetheart Wunder Under top looks downright X-rated on me. Maybe I will try the Align Bra with the tank top...what size do you take in those? 32D or DD over here.
Hahahahaha LOVE that about x-rated. I've been saying I look like a Pez - where the character head is my t*ts and the stick is my body hahaha.
I do really think that it's about the shape of the boobs and the size of your body, back, etc. I wear a size 6 in the sweetheart align bra - for reference I wear a size 4 in the Sweetheart Wunder Under - and the tank top in a XS. I'm 5ft0 and usually wear a UK6 or UK8 top. I love the sweetheart + tank top combo but like I said - no support - I just feel great and very sexy. I have tank top in espresso to match with my espresso wunder under and the Sweetheat Align bra in white. That combo is very pretty but again will be hit or miss depending on fit and how supported you feel.
If you're placing an online order for those, I do recommend giving the Energy bra a shot as well - it's a safe bet. They have the longline version (I don't like), and then they have two versions of the Energy bra the B-D cup, and the B-DDD cup. I actually take the B-D cup because the back is cuter - and I order that one in a size 4.
I tried the Align V-Neck bra and the Align V-neck tank top and I was spilling out.
I have figured out that the best way to know if you're going to spill out or not is by dropping down on the floor in the changing rooms (lol - or your bedroom floor if you're trying at home) and do a few mountain climbers - thats how you know if you're going to end up naked mid workout!

Another very well researched article! Thanks
Thank you Nicole ❤️❤️❤️
