I just loved reading this as I walked back-and-forth on my catwalk. (The outdoor kind; I’m not pretending to model or anything.) I used to be in PR and I remember discovering that stories had been placed in these magazines by PR people whereas I used to think that whatever bizarre told me to buy keep or store was somehow the gospel. I’ve also been a copywriter, so I’m completely aware of how we create a sense of urgency. And yet… And yet... they get me! The idea of this quest for this certain kind of imaginary jean, the emotion attached, the seamlessness of my click to conversion with Apple Pay. They get me. I want to be more mindful, step one and be more well read and knowledgeable on what’s happening behind the scenes. Thank you for helping me with both.

It was soul crushing so I wasn’t good at delivering and was swapped out for someone who followed “the rules.”

Such an informative and interesting post, thank you for putting this together! I use the built in app timer, but I can (and do) immediately override it every day. I think you’ve given me the nudge I need to buy a timer app!
