just a note to say that as I've scaled back my consumption, I find that much of the energy directed toward getting new things has been satisfied by taking care of my current things - in particular handwashing my cashmere and wool sweaters and depilling them. it's ...almost therapeutic. my sweaters are hardly high end but they're holding up very well so far. (that being said, I've been thinking of investing in one nicer knit for the season and this newsletter so was so helpful!)

Hi Athalie. I loved this comment so much that I've pinned it. You have expressed better than I could have the approach that I wish people had with their clothes. I think we have lost the habit of falling in love with our clothes and it's a real shame. I can 100% relate to you referring this as 'therapeutic'; I have such a tiny amount of clothes and because I wear them so much they feel really special.

Thanks for sharing about your sweaters, this resonates with what I was saying about not needing to bankrupting yourself - looking after your clothes can go such a long way!

I hope you have a great day! <3 Xx

Hi Liza! What an interesting piece, I love my cashmere sweaters from reformation! Do you have any recommendation for merino wool sweater brands? Thank you for your writing

Hi Camille!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for trusting my recommendations! I am assuming you mean for every day as opposed to technical wear? Check out these that make merino knitwear only:

- We Norwegians: It looks like a technical brand at first glance (like, skiwear focused), but it's not. It's got lots of amazing designs for every day. You can shop directly from their website or from Net A Porter etc. (They are also on The Outnet if you want to shop them with discounts).

- Sheep Inc. They only use the finest merino.

- If you wanted technical wear/for super cold weather: Perfect Moment.

- Other brands that aren't exclusively using merino wool but use it in the majority of their knitwear (check fabric comp.): Cefinn (on their own site, you can filter by merino and they have a huge selection). Other brands: Raey, Bella Freud, Joseph, and Leset (you can find these on most sites. They're all on Matches and you can use what I suggest below to only get shown the merino stuff).

I am sure you've already thought about it but I also recommend using it as a key term when shopping online. If you just search for 'merino' on Net-A-Porter, Matches, and most online retailers (not Revolve or FWRD, their search function is useless) they will show you all merino results and you can then apply your filters to narrow down your search.

I hope this helps! L Xxx

I literally had tears in my eyes when I was reading about the destruction of the land and the mistreatment of the animals. Your newsletters are changing EVERYTHING about the way I shop and style my clothes. A friend of mine recommended a $400 dress to me the other day and the very first thing I did was scour the web site for information on where their products are manufactured and the second was look at the fabrication under the product notes. (It was polyester. And there were zero disclosures about manufacturing.) Suddenly the dress became VERY unappealing. Thank you for what you're doing!

Hi Nikki,

Your comment means so much to me. I hope I didn't make your Sunday too sad nonetheless! I am SO pleased to know that you're picking up stuff from the newsletter that is helping you shop better. Polyester is definitely the one fabric that is an automatic no-no for me. And for $400! Brands can definitely do better than this.

Thanks again, feedback like this is my absolute favourite. I hope you continue to love the content! Have a happy happy Wednesday! L Xxx

I love when you list the cashmere brands you recommend. That’s the biggest take home point for me from ALL your articles- when you give your recommendations- I take them seriously. I recently bought a cashmere sweater and when I saw the brand made your list- I gave my self a high-five😊🤦🏽‍♀️. I’m definitely a fan of yours🤣

Hi Michelle! Thank you so so much for the lovely compliments! Which brand is it that you bought? I'm glad we liked the same one! Xx

Quince, crewneck. Just got it so I’m optimistic will hold up. I live in the South- Florida- so don’t buy as much winter wear as a lot of other people. Let’s see how well this lasts.

Everyone is recommending Uniqlo - worth the hype? I just love cashmere and will spend more to get something that'll last. Hard not to wonder about Uniqlo though!

Hi Mary,

I know, they are very much hyped aren't they! What I have referred to in the newsletter is that overall they are being heavily treated to appear better than they are in the moment of purchase. I have read an extensive amount of reviews about Uniqlo cashmere and they are definitely mixed. My personal preference is to buy from a cashmere specialist like the ones I have listed below, which are not far off from the price, but share more information about the origins of their cashmere. That being said, I still think Uniqlo is decent value for money Xx

Cashmere makes me happy. This article got me to finally subscribe! I would have liked a section on proper care to extend the life of cashmere garments.

Hi Glory, Thank you so much for subscribing and welcome! There was a part 8 covering my tips to look after cashmere but as this newsletter was already 16 minutes long to read I removed it. I have a special 'Looking after your clothes' feature coming up that will have all my tips fabric by fabric. Stay tuned! Xx

Thank you so much for this one. I love the brand Tricot for recycled cashmere out of Paris.

Hi Dana! Thank you SO much for this. I was hoping for a longer list of recycled options so this is fantastic. I have only come across this brand once or twice but never properly looked into it. Now I have bookmarked it and will explore it properly. The French do new contemporary fashion really well. Thanks again! Xx

You are so welcome. I have three of their sweaters and wore them a lot last year and they hold up remarkably well. The sweaters run a bit oversized so if you like a more fitted look, size down.
