096. La Ligne Strips Down, Totême One-Ups the Country Jacket, and Frame Scores Sienna Miller
Shopping that Looks Forward to Spring
This is EVERY BODY GETS DRESSED’s new shopping column. A weekly curated edit of the only fashion releases worthy of your attention.
Wishlist Worthy Newness
La Ligne released a new drop and a campaign fronted by actress and cool girl Phoebe Tonkin. It makes one want to strip Spring style down to its bare essentials - medium-wash denim, cotton knit, and a pointelle tank. Most of it is 100% organic cotton (and I would have loved to see this gorgeous shirred jacket in something other than polyester).
Another Tomorrow made the perfect transitional piece in this butter-yellow cotton corduroy shirt.
Noteworthy Everlane releases include slouchy low-rise chinos and a pair of denim indigo overalls with a resolute nineties fit. The incredible Cassandra Lanrick, who makes some of the best GRWM videos on IG, just posted a reel about how to style overalls.
Carven made another perfect collection. This cotton organza skirt is the most timeless and well-executed iteration of the sheer skirt trend I have seen.
Trust Totême to come out with a country jacket to make us blind to the thousand versions already out there. Their new season lookbook, featuring Dutch model Saskia de Brauw, is brilliant in its simplicity. Hard to pick favourites, but the Tibi-esque parachute silhouette seen in this skirt and this dress stands out. And because their shoes are so great: these nineties-feel scarlet suede flip-flops and these thong flat sandals that remind me of the K.Jacques x Ciao Lucia pair the internet loses its collective mind over every Summer.

At COS, I was drawn to some Studio Nicholson-like arrivals, such as this funnel-neck shirt and this double-faced wool hoodie.
Guest In Residence came out with new retro-inspired pastel colours for some of their core pieces, like my treasured Cozy Crew in powder pink or the Collegiate Stripe Polo in mint or French blue stripes. A muted palette suits me best, but I still applaud the brand for not making another version of the same beige or black knit when there are already so many out there.
Aritzia launched a Pre-Spring collection consisting of a ‘curated assortment of lightweight layers to wear between seasons’. The styling looks really good. I like this blouson jacket, the 90s low-rise baggy jeans, the high-rise wide-leg ones, and the fact that they offer a denim shirt in the same washes to create an expertly layered denim-on-denim look.
After the fun Alix Earle fiddle-faddle two weeks ago, Frame knocked another zeitgeisty campaign out of the park by choosing Sienna Miller and her boyfriend Ollie Green to be the faces of their Spring campaign and new vintage-inspired The Vertical jeans - a column straight-leg silhouette with long inseam.
More loafer envy after last week’s Bottega’s, with JW Anderson and these ruffled leather loafers in brown (more sizes here) and white (more sizes here).
Tory Burch’s new releases include this great poplin bomber shirt (also available in candy-coloured stripes) and these pleated micro shorts, which I bought instantly after looking for a pair like this for months. The collection also features interesting maximalist pieces like this pale lemon sequin skirt and this cotton fringe cardigan. Both would look amazing styled with a simple white cotton tank top.
TWP Clothing's Spring collection excels in shirting both at the polished and casual end of the spectrum (this one also made it to my personal wishlist; I like the utilitarian look and the option to shop it in a Petite fit). Also worth a nod is the silk organza layered skirt.
If you’re lucky enough to be shopping for a winter sun escape, this chic swim and coverup set from Taller Marmo stood out amongst MyTheresa’s New Arrivals (looks great in green, too!).
Another personal favourite, By Malene Birger, also dropped their Spring collection. The star of the show is the lamb leather leopard coat that has already sold out on their site despite the hefty price tag (a few are left on Moda Operandi). More accessible is this keyhole-neckline wool and silk top that makes a solid elevated basic. I would also buy this contrast collar shirt to replicate this street-style look I pinned to my Spring moodboard, styled with this new Gimaguas belt.
More denim to finish! As some of you pointed out in the comment section of Sunday’s newsletter (below, if you missed it), I don’t wear them very much, but I still know a great pair of jeans when I see one. Madewell just launched three of them: the Dean; a slightly low-slung and relaxed straight leg, the Arc-Leg; anchored at the waist with a curved tapered leg, and the Flared Wide-Leg; a high-rise flare with volume through the leg. For more denim reviews by someone who wears them all the time, I recommend the amazing
and this recent newsletter about her favourite pairs.
