1. Eclectic Flair
Clio Peppiatt has created new colourways for her signature acrylic-beaded mini bag, which looks like it’s made of rock candy or crystals. The bag is hand-beaded by talented artisans with impeccable creative pedigrees—Peppiatt herself worked as a print designer for Alexander McQueen before founding her label. As I have said many times before, evening accessories is the one space in a hugely oversaturated market that could do with more brands, and Clio Peppiatt is one of the very few labels that do exciting things within it.
The all-natural fibres that make up this skirt (including nettle!) and its uniquely gathered yoke and structured hem all make the piece feel like it belongs to another time —elements of traditional Ukrainian garb mix in every piece made by TG Botanical, a label that only came on the scene in 2021 and survived the war in Ukraine, supporting its 30 female employees all the while. If it’s worth having, it’s worth waiting for - the collection is on pre-order on Moda Operandi. One of the more mindful ways to consume new fashion as it ensures brands and retailers don’t produce or order in excess of demand.
Ever since Sarah Jessica Parker held the JW Anderson pigeon clutch in an episode of And Just Like That, it’s felt like the designer has been challenging himself to make wilder and wilder bags, only getting more lifelike as they come. This so-called “bag” might not hold more than your house keys, but it doubles as a furnishing to brighten your bureau. I have not yet been so bold, but the more conventional bag silhouettes from the label (including my beloved Twister) are some of my favourites - and amongst the more affordable - on the designer handbag market.
If you were eyeing a street-style shoe by the brand known for its technically-savvy hiking boots, SSENSE has Roa shoes at a 35% discount. Their shoes are rarely on sale, which is a sign that a label is worth its sticker price and then some. The Vibram soles are rugged to brave a rainy street without the danger of slipping, and the pull-tabs on its heels make for a zero-stress slip-on experience— a perfect match for a trip to the corner store, a walk around the block, and much longer distances.
